Paul Scales Vice President of the Irish Thai Chamber and Advisor to the Thai Board of Trade recently represented the Chamber as part of the Joint Foreign Chambers delegation at a meeting with the Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. The Prime Minister emphasized that input from the private sector is essential to building a strong, resilient Thai economy that is ready for future change.

The JFCCT presented six key issues to enhance Thailand’s long-term competitiveness:

  • Strengthening national competitiveness
  • Advancing integrated digital government
  • Developing future-ready workforce skills
  • Empowering SMEs
  • Promoting holistic sustainable development
  • Accelerating expansion of free trade agreements (FTAs)

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting SMEs, advancing FTAs, expediting Thailand’s accession process to the OECD, and pushing regulatory reforms to remove unnecessary rules. These efforts will be complemented by the adoption of digital technologies to streamline business operations, create a competitive investment environment, and promote long-term economic growth.
